Which brings up that lower temperature standard used by Fahrenheit.
..Or something rather better and cooler mentioned in the current
 Scientific American. An article there describes an accessible standard based
 on the freezing temperature of mercury - cooled by a slurry of CO2 chips
 in alcohol.
