The complete solution to the driven simple harmonic oscillator problem is
the sum of the homogeneous solution (at its natural frequency) and the
inhomogeneous solution (at the driving frequency). In a damped system, the
transient, homogeneous solution decays in time, leaving only the "steady
state" solution.
