nope, but (as you said) once a small twist of the bridge
occurs, the vortex shedding provides the positive feedback that such
resonances require to grow in amplitude.


I have great difficulty understanding the death grip some folks
have on calling this phenomenon a resonance.


And will someone who IS familiar with the Particle Physics use of the
term 'resonance' please comment on this 'distinction'.
