Re: squash ball question

Variability in balls and courts is a memento of Squash rackets' birth.
Originated, like so many sports, in 19th C England, students at an elite
'public school' (private prep school) tired of waiting for their turn
at the solitary rackets court there (Harrow) and commandeered a smaller
space and a 'squashy' ball.
The US game is usually played with a 'regulation' ball: hollow black
rubber, 1.75 in diameter, 1 ounce weight. Singles games use a slow ball;
pairs, a faster one.

The ISRF ball by contrast is rubber or a rubber butyl mix, weight
23.3 - 24.6 gm and diameter 39.5 to 41.5 mm.

I'm confused. Racquetballs are hollow, but I don't remember squash balls
being particularly hollow.
