Not all "plain Americans" subscribe to the consumerist party line.
Teachers, especially, ought to model responsible behavior rather than
rush out to buy the biggest, latest, often least efficient, fad.

Well maybe not all Americans, but why pick on teachers (on average
I'd bet my students drive newer cars and live in newer houses than
I do) - shouldn't our leaders subscribe to those responsible
behaviors, yet I think we see just he opposite.
