Re: HP Graphing Calculators

I don't know about the HP49. I always preferred the RPN notation that HPs used.
However, because of cost I use a CASIO Algebra FX 2.0 which has far more
functionality than I will ever use or need. It is also fairly easy to use since
it is menu driven. I have a TI-85 in a desk drawer that I gave up trying to
use. It's command structure was very arcane and non-intuitive to me. Using one
sporadically, I could never remember how to do things from one time till the
next. When I work problems in class I usually grab an old CASIO fx-300V or a
nameless Japanese calculator I got somewhere which has no name on it.

I hope this is closely related enough to physics to be appropriate here.

Engineers love HP calculators, other disciplines love their TI's. I've
always thought that physicists loved HP, but maybe a quick little poll on
this list would be interesting. Which brand do you use?

Thanks,

P.S. I do tell my students that most serious calculations get done on
computers these days rather than hand-held calculators.
