Re: How To Recruit Women to Tech and IT Classes

Jim,

The answer to that one ought to be obvious. So that they become
aware of the discipline and what it has to offer. Not everyone grows up
hearing about physics at his or her mother's knee.

I happened to have an uncle who was a physicist who got me
interested in the subject. Otherwise I'd probably be making shoes like the
rest of my family did.

Certainly not... but we have not done a very good job attracting
women to the profession in the past, which suggests that we need to
reevaluate what we have been doing that may have discouraged women from
considering physics as a career.

Which brings us back to my original question. Why would anyone want to
promote physics or any other curriculum for any particular segment of
society?
