Re: probability distribution problem

I'm disappointed nobody gave this a shot.

The answer is the *beta* distribution.

Now with this extra hint of this answer, can anyone explain what the
relationship is between the Poisson distribution and the associated
gamma distribution, what the corresponding relationship is between the
Binomial distribution and the associated beta distribution, and what
the relationship is between the Poisson/gamma pair and the Binomial/beta
pair?

David Bowman

It's easy to find a relation between the beta and gamma pair, in that
the one can be expressed in terms of the other - as factorials.
And the binomial tends either to the Gaussian, as n goes high, unless p
goes low, in which case it tends to the Poisson, I believe.

But this is far from answering David's question.
