Re: A sick computer monitor

At that point I borrowed an old Mac LC monitor and all
symptoms disappeared. Will it last? I hope so; the computer
was on for many hours and all has been normal so far.
I think the AppleVision monitor is really sick and needs a
professional hand. I wish I could buy a used replacement
monitor for peanuts, as Bernard did yesterday.

It does sound like the problems are in the monitor, but I don't know
anything about how they work (beyond the very basic physics), so I
can offer no assistance there. But may I suggest that you check with
Shreve Systems (<http://www.shrevesystems.com>) in Shreveport, LA for
a replacement, if you decide you need one. They deal in reconditioned
equipment and I have found their prices quite reasonable and their
products reliable. I purchased my 20" Apple monitor from them about
three years ago at what was then a very reasonable price (they're
even cheaper now), and it has worked flawlessly. Check out their ad
in the August issue of Macworld Magazine (p. 167).

Let's face it. People use a Mac because they want to, Windows because they
have to..
