Re: Exploding Pop Bottles



I saw Karl Trappe do this at the lecture demo workshop in Boise. What he
did was put the CO2 or LN2 in the bottle and then the bottle was placed in
a tall plastic trash can that had water in it. The water not only acted
as a heat source to speed things up, but it also added anough mass to the
can to keep it stable during the Kaboom. When it went off the whole thing
jumped up into the air. The can kept all fragments contained or aimed UP.
Stand at least 20 - 30 ft away. Just be safe and use common sense.

Note: When doing this on campus, notify public safety so they know the
big BOOM isn't some kind of terrorist attack or a bomb. It is loud!
