1) SESSION & WORKSHOP REQUEST FORMS DEADLINE MAY 1

The deadline for submission of all Session and Workshop Request Forms for
the 2001 Winter Meeting in San Diego, California is Monday, May 1. Please
submit your proposals electronically through the web at:

2) 2000 APPARATUS COMPETITION

The annual AAPT Apparatus Competition will be held in Guelph, Ontario on
July 30, 2000, during the AAPT summer meeting.

There are two categories - Low Cost Apparatus and Introductory Laboratory
Apparatus. Prizes range from $100 to $1000.

Plan now to enter, and notify the Competition director by May 1 of your
intention to enter (for details, see

3) WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITIES

A number of workshops are still available for K-12 teachers this summer.
These include Modeling Workshops and Constructing Physics Understanding
Workshops. More information about these and other workshop opportunities is

4) ONLINE COURSE SYLLABI

Do you have a course syllabus online that you might like to share with
other faculty teaching the same or a similar course? This might be a
valuable resource for new faculty members or faculty teaching the course for
the first time.

You can submit the course information and URL for your syllabus to a

5) AJP - LOOKING FOR A NEW EDITOR, TO START JULY 1, 2001
A search committee has been appointed to seek a new editor for the American
Journal of Physics, to begin his or her duties on July 1, 2001. The new
editor will succeed Robert H. Romer, who has served as editor since 1988.

The search committee welcomes inquiries, suggestions, nominations, and
applications. For a more complete description of the search procedures and
