Re: FTL, antigravity, etc.

Greetings,
Finally some support. I have been telling my students that I am working on an antigravity machine which when completed will bring to an end, once and for all, the need to tolerate students who misbehave, don't do homework, etc. They are also informed that they can diminish my time working on the project in relation to the time they spend on studying, doing homework etc.

The students were also informed that once developed, I would sell the idea to the highest bidder (Only football teams need apply and only ones without domed stadiums.)

Now to see how this new information relates to what I have been doing.

Dick

PS - should you believe this, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Here's another interesting one. This guy's page is actually full of equations
which supposedly support his claim of anti-gravity. (Follow some of his links at
the bottom for his experimental results). This one belongs in the "I'll build one
when I get the right tools" bin.

It would be interesting to read the file history, if anybody wants
to pay for it. You can order at the given URL.

Does anyone know of more details about what this guy is alleging? I
haven't had a chance to look at the pseudo-science sites for this, but
I'm sure someone must know something. I'm heading over to Bill Beatty's
site now for a look. Thanks for any input.

I heard somebody mention a "FTL" controversy on SCI.PHYSICS, but I didn't
have time to track it down. What's the link?

PS

The latest fringe science buzz: somebody finally built the very first
"weird science" project that I put on my website in early 1994. This is
the infamous "gravity-emitting capacitor". This anonymous person claims
that it WORKS, and lifts 5x more than its 1KG mass. I'm being
intentionally gullible and starting construction ("provisional belief" is
required in order replicate any experiment in an unbiased fashion, even
the conventional ones.) The less trusting fringe-sci hobbyists are
waiting for April 1st to roll around, just in case there is a certain
announcement pending! :)

DANGER!!!!!!!! If anyone here is tempted to build a tinfoil spacewarp
generator, note that the capacitance works out to be about 1/2 microfarad.
At a couple of thousand volts, such a capacitor is very nasty. Your first
mistake could be lethal. If you haven't already worked with
energy-storage capacitors, I'd suggest steering clear from this one.
