I need to ask for some help and clarification. I just finished an
article in Science News (Vol. 157, March 25, 2000, p. 198.) that
describes an experiment done at UCSD that had a negative permeability
and permittivity.
They state that this condition makes everyhting "reverser and
reverser". They also state that negative permittivity has been observed
before now.
Does anyone know anything more about the experiment?
Does anyone know of the previous experiment that observed negative
permittivity?
HOW do you create (is that the right word?) negative permeability and
permittivity?
I just finished the E&M segment in our Physics II, and I'm sure at least
one of my students will be asking me something about this.
