The reluctance of poj to get even more political was, I think, in deference
to the purpose of the Phys-L listserve, not that political views aren't fit
to air.   As someone who has held a tight rein on your own listserve and
have often asked people to move their discussions to more appropriate
venues, your criticism here seems misplaced.
