Flattering though it is, I'd like to minimize the
number of students who drive miles, sometimes as far
as 40 or more miles, just to ask a question or two in
office hours. I've tried phone-in office hours, which
is marginally effective in a conceptual-physics class,
doesn't work well at all in the calculus-based classes
where there is really no substitute for pencil and
paper when answering students' questions. Has anyone
made use of any device/software that would allow
on-line and real-time office hours wherein the
student/instructor can not only hear each other, but
can also exchange drawings, or better yet, watch
drawings being constructed in real time? Seems like a
good use for the internet. Any suggestions?
Leon
