You are. His advocation (if you can really call it that) was borne out
of his fear of Hitler and what Hitler was doing to the Jews (although
Einstein's identity as a Jew was very loose). His "fudging" the
cosmological constant was intellectual dishonesty and probably had a
greater effect on him.
