Subject: The Physics of Ships

Would anyone be able to recommend some good references on "the physics of
ships." By this I mean, basic hydrodynamics that governs the motion of a ship
through the water, bow waves, stern waves, hull design, etc. and other physics
that may be involved.

Also, what are the "classic" references in this field?

Thank you for your help.
