Re: A weighty subject

Bob,
you say that Daniell never specifies exactly what the local
causes are that affect the force of gravity.

You feel comfortable with the simplicity of Daniell's concept,
and choose not to be concerned with the local causes mentioned
in the Daniell quote.

Others agree with Daniell that there are local causes, and debate
at length to clarify their ideas as to what these local causes are.

I hope that I can now at least describe your position on this
weight issue with clarity.

Brian,

No, he does not, and that is why I concur.
It's as simple as he states it.

Bob,
here's an interesting observation:
I believe that I too can join you in supporting the Daniell
paragraph, as quoted. Moreover, I would not be at all shocked
if every single participant in this debate also supports you
in this way.

It's as the lawyers say, "all in the fine print".
My questions address the "variations according to local causes"
in the text ascribed to Daniell. Does he ever specify what are
'local causes'?
