Re: WORD Equation editor help needed

I find the MSWord equation editor a vast improvement over the WP6.1
editor. Corel, who now owns WP, must think so also; they now use the
same equation editor as MS in WP8.

But I also noticed the lack of online help. The WP8 equation editor
is a stripped down version of MathType. The MathType website is
www.mathtype.com. They offer limited online help, mostly
troubleshooting help.

Be careful mixing WP eq. ed. commands and MSWord eq. ed. commands in
the same document. Though I think they are meant to be compatible,
each word processor sees them as different objects. I've already run
into the "disk full" error which prevents saving your document (in MS
Word, I think) and involves an object linking error. You can find the
fix at the MathType website.

The full scale MathType seems very reasonably priced. I'm seriously
considering upgrading.

Good luck!

I'm finally, and reluctantly, upgrading from
WordPerfect 6.1, whose equation editor I've learned to
use rather well, to WORD 2000. However, upon perusal
of the aftermarket info on W2000, there seems to be
virtually no help on how to use its Equation editor
which, at first glance, is quite different from
WordPerfect's. Any advice on sources of help in using
Word's editor would be greatly appreciated. Or does
everyone else out there use some other aftermarket
equation editor when writing exams, labs, class notes,
etc?

Thanks, Leon
