I didn't repeat your calculation, but by counting days from VE (Mar. 21) to AE (Sept. 23) and from AE to VE (again assuming Mar. 21) for 1999-2000 I come up with 7 days. I'm not sure now where I originally got the 5 day figure I quoted you earlier, but it does seem empirically to be more like 7. Thanks for the stimulation of the group.
