While sympathizing with the thrust of Leigh's position,
(It is customary in meteorology to label the unloved
'centrifugal effect' on the wind as the 'Cyclostrophic
component' which enhances the geostrophic wind round a high,
and diminishes it round a low) the unguarded suggestion that
force produces acceleration is incorrect as we all well know.

Better to reaffirm that a force may result in a stress, a
velocity or an acceleration depending upon the nature of the
resistance to that force.
