don't throw out all the alternative licensing procedures. if YOU wanted to
teach high school science, with a PhD in a science or engineering, you
would go through an alternative program to get the methods courses, ed
psych, child development, etc. then in most states a year of on the job
training/mentoring/supervision to get certified. i did. the intent is for
people who are already trained in their fields to take the teacher ed
courses. not much different from the BA/BS first course that we've talked
about.
