Physics Laboratory Coordinator
University of California at Berkeley

The Physics Department at the University of California at Berkeley is
seeking applicants for a Physics Laboratory Coordinator who will direct the
operations of the Physics upper- and lower-division teaching labs and
lecture demonstrations.

Responsibilities will include: developing and designing experiments and
demonstrations; overseeing the implementation of new course curriculum; and
writing proposals for extramural funding to support curricular development,
innovative teaching programs, and major equipment purchases. Duties also
include supervising one engineer and three technicians in the daily
operations of laboratories and lectures.

Qualifications: Advanced academic preparation in physics, engineering, or
other physical science, as well as working knowledge of chemistry,
mechanics, computers and electronics. (Master's degree preferred.) Ability
to suggest, develop and conceptualize demonstrations and laboratory
experiments. Specific knowledge of machine shop equipment and modern
physics test instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators and
radiation detectors. Knowledge of various computer languages, e.g. C,
Unix, Pascal. Excellent oral/written communication skills. Technical
writing skills. Experience supervising career employees.

Full Salary range: $55,700-83,600. Excellent benefits package. AA/EEO
