I recall reading a short essay ( probably Sci Am.) wherein
a prof explains to his students how he wrote a code to
differentiate and integrate.
   They were convinced they were sitting at the feet of a
giant of computation, until he explained that he hard coded all
the standard results, and used rather modest manipulations of
the symbols.
