As explainded to the original poster, I used to 'dunk' instruments when
I first heard about this 6 or 7 years ago when I lived in Toledo. I was
skeptical, but changed my mind when I cooled my own horns. I've done
french horns, bones, trumpets, flutes, bassoon bocals. Only on the
woodwinds did I have to do any prep work. I had their repairman take
off the keys so the pads wouldn't fall off. Brass instruments went in
as is, with no valve or slide problem.

Would the pads be safe, or should one remove the keys?
