Physics Videos

Tom Greenslade asked "One of my graduates, who is now teaching in a
secondary school, recently
asked where to find a videotape version of the footage of Galileo's
experiment
done on the moon -- the dropping of the hammer and some other object.
Can anyone tell me which collection of videos has this segment on it?"

I use the video clip on the Mechanical Universe series. It is on MU
videodisc #2, beginning at about frame # 9920--an astronaut drops a hammer
and a feather on the Moon. By the way, I also use this video to estimate
the acceleration due to gravity on the Moon. I say estimate, because the
students must make an estimate of the height of the astronaut to get the
distance of fall; a nice "experiment."
