Dept. Chair Teaching Position

The Seven Hills School, an independent Pre K-12 day school (web address
below) in Cincinnati, Ohio has an opening starting in the 1999-2000
school year for a Science Department Chair of the Upper School (grades
9-12).

The Upper school has about 250 students in 4 grades with an average
class size of about 15 students with virtually all students going on to
four year colleges upon graduation. At least 25% of the senior class
received National Merit status which is typical. The school offers
classes in AP Biology, Chemistry and Physics with very high percentages
of students earning 4's and 5's.

The school requires three years of science in order to graduate and
these must include a full year each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The faculty at the school is intimately involved in the academic affairs
of the school, setting up the curriculum, deciding on text books,
establishing graduation requirements etc.

The department chair would be responsible for developing and
coordinating the science curriculum throughout the K-12 grades as well
as managing the Upper School department. Candidates with a background in
teaching BOTH Mathematics and Science would be of particular interest to
the school since we are trying to address issues of coordination between
these two departments currently.
