First year concept baseline test

Dear all,

I have been receiving this list for a month now and have enjoyed all the
postings on diverse topics. I'm happy to have a question to start a new
thread! Well, I hope its new, anyway...

I have a first year university physics class starting in a couple of weeks
time. These students are straight from high school and this is a calculus
based course for Physics majors. Text is Halliday, Resnick and Walker. I am
really interested in doing pre and post tests to gauge the entry level of
conceptual understanding (and the exit level on course completion). It
would be great if there was some sort of 'industry standard' so comparisons
could be made with students from different backgrounds at other
institutions/cities/countries. Does anyone know of such a test?

Thanks in advance,
Colin.
