Hello!
Is it just a coincidence that the acceleration due to the
gravitational force on the surface of the earth is approximately pi

I have heard some historical conjecture that this might NOT be a coincidence!

Some say that an EARLY definition of a meter MIGHT have been the length of
a simple pendulum with a period of 2 seconds. This would have been an
easier definition to realize in the lab than was the def. that involved the
quadrant of the earth that passed thru Paris.
