Subject: Re: Solution to a problem!!

. . .
I found it easier to solve for D than x, but was still unable to get it
in
closed form, but only as the solution of the equation

(-7/3) sec(D) == cot(D) + tan(D)
. . .

Ken,
This equation is reducible to sin(D) = - 3/7.
Reduce everything to sines and cosines - multiply through by cosine -
then eliminate cosines with cos^2 = 1 -sin^2. It falls apart!

PS: You might worry about just what a negative value of D means in your
model.
