Open Faculty Position in Physics Education



I would like to call your attention to the fact that the Department of
Physics, Texas Tech University has an open tenure track faculty position
in Physics Edcuation, starting in the Fall of 1999. The detailed position

Tenure Track Faculty Position, Physics Education
Texas Tech University
The Department of Physics at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Physics Education at
the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning September, 1999.
TTU, a multipurpose university with more than 25,000 students, is located
in Lubbock, a city of 200,000. The department has 19 full-time faculty and
offers programs leading to the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. Departmental research
areas include Atomic-Molecular-Optical, Biological, Condensed Matter,
Forensic, Particle, and Nuclear Physics, and the Physics of Semiconductor
and Dielectric Materials. Current departmental Physics Education activities
consist of outreach to area public schools and multimedia and web-based
curriculum development for elementary education and non-science majors.
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Physics, Physics Education, or a related
field. Two years of postdoctoral or equivalent Physics Education experience
is preferred. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to education at
both the undergraduate and the graduate level, a demonstrated teaching
ability, and a record of scholarly accomplishment in Physics Education. The
successful candidate will have the ability to carry out an independent
research program in Physics Education, which is capable of attracting
external funding. Startup funds and research space will be provided.
