And speaking of B... does anyone know why the B-field is a B-field instead
of an M-field or A-field or something else?

Does anyone know the story or reason why there are D,C, AA, AAA size
batteries but "B" was either skipped or not produced anymore? My
students were asking and I did not have a clue.
