Well, in this business "working properly" should never be construed to
mean "there's never an error." :-) The queue might be full; the systems
people at your end might have purged the spool for one reason or
another; other things could have happened.


Should it be assumed that phys-L messages arriving when
our server is "not on line" are NOT LOST because the phys-L
mailer sends them again, over and over for several days?

PHYS-L tries for three days, then gives up and dumps all the held mail.
If *that* happens three days in a row, then I assume that the connection
has been permanently lost, and I usually remove the subscriber from the
subscription list. I apologize in advance to those who should not have
been deleted; in any case it's a simple matter to resubscribe.
