Let's suppose we set up a simple recording anemometer in the mouth of the
mineshaft, and in the free air nearby.
And let's suppose we saw a fair correlation in their respective readings
(of airspeed).
Wouldn't that be rather conclusive?

If it would, why should we guess? :-)
