Subject: Essential (was Computer) Skills
. . .
The computer people here think Visual Basic is a great intro to
computers
and programing and use it in their first round of courses for majors.

I really think Visual Basic is a Godsend! It has my vote for the
preferred student's introduction to programming.

In case someone is still unaware, I'll again direct you to my ray
tracing program "Snell Trace" (written in Visual Basic). I sneak it in
here as an example of how quite involved graphics are easily accomplished
with Visual Basic - and all the Windows GUI and I/O stuff come built in!

Just follow the FTP site link at http://www.velocity.net/~trebor. It's
free! (the tutorial has just been expanded a little.)
