Re: PHYS-L Needs New Owner and New Home!!

I suggest we discuss this matter publicly on the list, rather than using
private email with me. One topic I think we ought to explore is whether
to move from a mailing list format to a web-based format, and to
consider the advantages and disadvantages of each. And as part of that
discussion I hope we can identify the person who can make it happen.

Here we GO!

My $.02 is to keep the current email format. Web based may have its
advocates, but I am pleased with my habit of having Eudora do a quick
download of ALL my (several) mailing lists and then settling down, offline,
to peruse the colected wisdom.

recap: I vote for staying with the the email solution, even tho our school
doesn't have the resources, physical OR administrative, to take on the task.

I sure hope that SOME kind soul will rise to the task (and collect
bounteous Brownie Points from all us OTHER list members.)

I'm with Chuck. If Phys-L goes to the Web, I'll never see it again. I have
thousands of sites bookmarked and almost never go back to them, even the
ones I know I should because I know I'll get valuable new info from them.
There are just too many distractions, and getting the Phys-L postings
directly to my inbox, is the only way I could keep up with them, or
occasionally have somthing to contribute.

Let's face it. People use a Mac because they want to, Windows because they
have to..
