Re: Pure white

spelling, e.g. "colour" on the Canadian page. Some Canadians use British
spellings, particularly easterners (who call themselves "central
Canadians". Unaccountably the official Crayola spelling of "sulfur" is
British! Could it be that the Queen owns Hallmark, too?

Actually, Maritimers and Newfoundlanders (neither central Canadians nor
easterners; sometimes barely Canadians at all) use British spelling as well.
American spelling seems to be most prevalent in BC of all Canadian provinces
in my experiences living across Canada. BC also has perhaps the most
economically vibrant culture, which may account for the high level of
Americanization. Nova Scotia (for instance) is much more rural -- say like
Maine or Alaska in the US. NFLD could be like the US Virgin Is in such an
analogy :^). The Maritimes and Nfld are also pretty hard at work to preserve
their own culture, and hardly so Americanized (barely civilized at all in
Cape Breton for instance -- my home :^).

A stint in the US is GUARANTEED to reinforce Canadian spelling for any
Canadian planning on returning, it seems to have thickened my accent
considerably as well. Cool, eh? It crosses my mind that few people in BC
are actually from BC -- like here in AZ or CO most are immigrants in their
present lifetimes.
