I have to agree that calculators are very much secondary to learning. We
have a math department that is practically devoted to the tI 's . The
kids really rebel in private and hate the dependance on them. However
they do learn, but i think in moderation they can be a good tool. My
physics labs rarely use them , mainly because home built experiments
seem to cement the concept in longer. Some advanced kids see the
concepts quicker and see where the calculator could be used to analyze
different aspects of the experiment.
