One interesting aspect of this is that the basic investigative methods of
science are so little known and so rarely practiced that anyone skilled in

If
nothing else this advantage can allow one to retire with great wealth simply
by prudent investing.

Now you have my full, complete and undivided attention as one sorely
afflicted in the matter of net present value.
I suspect it is not just proficiency in the dismal science to which you
are referring; and probably not the area of value investing, or momentum or
transaction timimg with buy/sell ratios on the markets or any specialized
financial acumen. No, it must have to do with developing a model, testing
experimentally, and discarding/refining hypotheses.
