Richard Tarara is correct of course that teachers in todays schools face
enormous obstacles, not least of which is a pervasive lack of work
ethic, often fostered by principals and others who insist that it's
always the teacher's fault if a student fails, and that student's should
always be happy if the teacher is good. What hogwash!
But that still does not excuse the training of elementary teachers whose
understanding of quantitative concepts is no better than the children
they are teaching.
