Re: Apparent weight

Hi Leigh:

Writing a long book is a time-consuming activity. What about about a
sequnce of messages for those of us who certainly have something to learn
from you in this thread? Little hints here and there are not sufficient.
I applaude you when you say that centrifugal forces are real. How can
be any doubt about this? But people avoid them because they present the
problem --> "what is the cause"? How do you deal with this? Also elaborate
on the "tidal" nature of your "microgravity".

Howdy,

What is the reaction force to the centrifugal force and what body does it
act upon? Just curious. I always find that writing Newton's second law as
F-ma=0 was equivalent to writing it as F=ma but leads to real problems in
students understanding of acceleration since you can always find a
reference frame where any given object has zero acceleration (it's own CM).

Good Luck,

P.S. Leigh, thanks for putting together that data base of SNR's for Starry
Night. What a neat program!
