Re: phase vs group vel. and simulations



Actually I'm working on a simulation which will show this (but is really
designed for something else). So if you can wait a few months for a beta
version....

I agree with some of the other comments about simulations: they should be
used very, very sparingly. Certianly if you can find a real example you are
probably better off. But, for example, what if you want to 'see' ie.
visualize an electric field for a random arrangemnet of point or line
charges? EM fields from Physics Academic Software is excellent for that
(and I think I recall some research results a while back that showed the
program does increase conceptual understanding).
