Who are the obvious ones, in your opinion?

Da Vinci, Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, and Einstein.

(others later took credit for his discovery - he died in 1995). From him
it was a hop, skip and a jump from ENIAC, IBM, Cray, DEC, and Altair to
all the PCs (and ironically to Y2K).

Then also, Faraday (wasn't he the first who thought on an
interaction mediated via a field?), Maxwell (So that we have
the other 'pair' in the history of physics), and also
obviusly then the inventor of the transistor: Baarden, Cooper and...
(I always forget it) Shefield?
