Please feel free to repost to intersted groups.
Michigan Technological University Physics Department is looking to fill
two faculty positions. See below:

Department of Physics
Michigan Technological University
Tenure Track Assistant or Associate Professor
Experimental Surface Physics
http://www.phy.mtu.edu

The Department of Physics at Michigan Technological University is
seeking a
tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful applicant
will
have the Ph.D. in Physics, a scientific interest that intersects one or
more
of the areas below, expertise in experimentally studying the physics of
surfaces and/or structures, a record of substantive research
accomplishment
as evidenced by publication (and at the Associate level a record of
external
support) and interests and ability to engage in high quality instruction
at
both the graduate and undergraduate levels. On-going research
activities
with potential relevance to this position include (i) nonlinear Raman
and
absorption spectroscopy, including laser induced fluorescence and solid
state spectroscopy, (ii) laser cooling and trapping, including atom
lithography, (iii) dislocation dynamics in intermetallics and
semiconductors, (iv) NMR and NQR studies of solids with quadrupole
nuclei,
(v) statistical mechanics of the structure and properties of fluids, and
(vi) ab initio calculations and Monte Carlo simulations of surfaces.
Salary
and startup are competitive. Applications should be addressed to Dr. J.
Bruce Rafert, Chair, Department of Physics, MTU, 1400 Townsend Drive,
Houghton, Michigan 49931, or via Internet contact jbrafert@mtu.edu.
Completed applications include a vita, statement of research interests
and
career plans, statement of teaching interests and the names and
telephone
