Faculty Position Opening:

The Department of Physics at The Ohio State University is seeking to fill a
tenure-track faculty position in its Physics Education Research Group at
the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor level. Salary is
competitive. In addition to being a major research department in one of
the largest state universities in the United States, the Department of
Physics has a long-term history of physics education activities and working
relationships with national and international organizations concerned with
physics education

QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate should have:
(a) a doctorate in physics or physics education,
(b) background and interest in physics and physics education,
(c) a record of quality teaching (work with teachers and with doctoral
students is desirable),
(e) excellence in research on the learning and teaching of physics,
(f) exemplary publications and grant activity (depending on the level of
the applicant), and
(g) a capacity for national leadership in physics education.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The appointee will be expected to:
(a) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in physics and physics
education in the Physics Department,
(b) interact with and direct doctoral and master's physics students in
physics education research,
(c) conduct a research program in physics education research,
(d) publish in scholarly journals, and
(e) provide leadership in physics education in the department and in the
physics community.
