Dan,

I'm not an excel user, but I suspect it has an IF function. Here's an if
function I use in Works. I calculate the numerical score in the C column,
then have an IF function assign a grade. It makes it easier to transfer
grades to the grade sheet.

=if(c2<0.6,"F",if(c2<0.7,"D",if(c2<0.8,"C",if(c2<0.9,"B","A"))))

Actually there's "lookup" function that is a lot easier than all that
typing which will accomplish the same thing.
