I think that the parent who started it should be informed of our discussion
and of its main conclusion. We should thank him for the stimulus. I am
probably not the only one who learned something from this thread.

What about performing an experiment in a large aquarium? A spring, or
an elastic band, can push a steel ball horizontally while an identical
ball is released from the same elevation. I suspect that the time
difference will be hard to miss when v_hor is sufficiently large.
