Dave,
     Thanks for the clarification.  I certainly see the advantage of 
defining velocity to be dimensionless and c = 1. I look upon it as 
forcing all four components of 4-vectors to have the same dimensions.

But what is the motivation for h-bar=1 and dimensionless (or is it?)?
