At least one notable student of Paul Dirac worthy of mention is Nobel laureate
physicist Abdus Salam. He had frequently mentioned Dirac in his writing and
speeches.

Thanks for refreshing my memory on that. When I made the comment
originally, I had forgotten about Salam.

Someone else (I forget who) remarked that they thought Einstein had never
held an academic position in which he would have to supervise students. I
don't believe that is true. Pais talks about some of Einstein's students in
his bio of Einstein, so I'm sure he had some, but it was not one of his
high priorities. Later in life, he admitted to some envy of Bohr for not
only being in a successful marriage while he had failed twice at it
(Einstein's words), but in having founded a "school" of physics which
turned out students and honed the skills of post-docs with great success.

To get random signatures put text files into a folder called "Random
Signatures" into your Preferences folder.The box said "Requires Windows 95
or better." So I bought a Macintosh.
