I found this commentary immensely amusing!
I think you can see the effects of engaging a little honest emotion.
As you may know, the table manner of this country is to eat with
a fork, taking up a knife only to cut what may not otherwise
be divided.

As far as I can tell, this habit was first enforced in public eating
places because in the course of dining conversation, Americans could
be depended upon to attack anyone who differed from them, with their
dinner knife.
The blood that ensued was thought to be bad for business...

I would be as pleased to hear your opinion of the spelling styles
you see here portrayed. There is a much more functional approach
to orthography I think you'll agree, and a sense of educational shame
is quite absent.
(I would not dream of remarking this in a normal newsgroup or list,
but this one is said to be populated largely with educators.)
